Jessupha likes peas!!

Ok, so I finally got some frozen peas, and shelled a couple for my 55, and gave half of one to my betta.

He ATTACKED it! It was so cute.. he'd grab it, and shake it, and spit it out, and attack it again.

It's especially strange cuz it took me a week to get him to eat his pellets.

So now I'm wondering, how often should i offer him a pea? I know 'every so often' is good, but how often is every so often? Once a week? Every 2 days? Once a month?

Thanks!

I love feeding my betta peas :D
he takes them, mauls them, devours them, and poos out green poo
once in a while he will bite off more than he can chew and swim around with a pea chunk in his mouth!

as for feeding him, i give him as much smushed pea he can eat in several minutes. and i do this twice a week. so i would suggest you can do the same.

the pea certainly gives them ruoughage. Look out colen! (if they have any) and i guess you will start seeing more poo in your tank once you do this

he can't possibly poo as much as the pleco's in the 55... i'm not scared ;)

But I can imagine that a bit more poo is good, right?

Next time i'll take a vid, its better than watching him slurp blood worms.

feeding peas once or twice a week is fine. it will help keep him from getting bloated. my female betta enjoys them also. so do my barbs, and gouramis. in fact, i don't know a fish that doesn't enjoy them! veggies are an integral part of a balanced fishy diet!

Mine both do too... in fact I haven't been able to get my newest to eat anything but pea's as yet :(

Am going to the store on Saturday though and will get some other foods to whet his appetite :)
