how to plant a 5g???

I want to plant my five gallon tank for my betta Mardi because I would like to add some ghost shrimp or red cherry shrimp and because I heard it was good for bettas and I want my little guy to live a long healthy life but I'm not good at growing things so I need some easy beginner plants..I really want something I can tie to his drift wood... suggestions on plants would be great!!!
