can boys have stress stripes

i changed my bettas water for the first today and he got a big stress stripe and I checked to see if he had a egg spot and he has a faint white dot but i heard some boys have fake egg spots so i wondering if boys can get stress stripes??? cause if not i guess i have a maci not a mason...

no it isn't because it already went away and that pic of him is from a couple of days ago it is just so people can look and see if they think he is a she

Looks like a boy to me, but I could be wrong.

I think the stress stripes kind of depend on the individual betta. One of my boys has gotten stress stripes before, but he was under a lot of stress at the time (his tankmate jumped the divider and was giving him a hard time). While one if my girls shows her stripes at the drop of a hat, I have yet to see any of the other three show theirs.

Yup, but IMO they seem to be harder to see.
That's a boy for sure, buff body and long ventrals. He's pretty. :) Doesn't look stressed, just make sure to pour in the new water carefully and every 30sec. - 1min.

Stripes and color changes don't always means stress per se-Both are a form of communication and camouflage in the fish world.
