Thanks Bombalurina, the neon's have since relocated to my sister-in-laws without much trouble. The tank had been cycled without fish before I introduced them, but I've since had to do without the filter as the current is way too strong. The filter is integrated into the tank, so I'm going to pick up a few things tomorrow, as well as some more plants, to try and slow it down a fair bit. Seems just days into it and I'm already lost. :(

Hey, Lisha, don't feel lost! It's great that the neons were rehomed. :) If you can post a photo of the filter we can suggest some ways to baffle it, if you like. Alternatively, with more plants and maybe more water changes, you should be able to run it just fine without a filter. Depends on your preference.

By fishlessly cycling you are already way ahead of most people. :)

Hi Lisha. I'm also from Australia, but live down in Melbourne.

Your betta is lovely, and definitely seems to be getting spoiled.

See you around the forum.

I think I managed to baffle the filter quiet a bit. I brought some aquarium foam and cut it to size and shoved some in behind the intake and some into the outake. There is still a little bit of a currant, but the poor little guy isn't getting flung across the tank anymore and seems a lot happier.

Only now he likes to rest right over the intake. I thought maybe I hadn't slowed it down enough, but whenever I go to check on him, he freely swims away from it and, goes somewhere else for a bit, then comes right back to the intake and lies against it. He is picking some odd spots to chill out. I have a PH tag that is suction capped to the inside of the tank and he likes to wriggle himself inbetween that and the glass and just stare at me.

Couldn't find the accessories I was looking for today at the petshop, so he'll just have to wait a bit for me to get them online.

Thanks again!
