Fin blow out and melting?

One of my guys has had a rough go of it, he bits his tail then blew all his fins when put into a community tank. He went into a qt for treatment of the wounds and developed some sort of fungus on his head/face.

Now he is finally getting better, all fungus is gone and the blown fins are healing nicely but they have a bit a melting going on. I was using filtered water for awhile to try and stop the melting from getting worse. I was wondering if there is anything I can do for the fins that are melty looking, will they always be like that or will they straighten out?

Since he is finally healthy, I put him into a divided 10 gallon. More room then he had in qt but not enough for him to zoom around and blow all his fins again.
He has me really paranoid that something else will go wrong. Its been a constant battle with his fins since I got him.

Can you post a pic of him? Keeping him in warm, clean, conditioned water should heal up his fins, it could take some time but it will happen.
