DUH Sponge Filter STUPID Questions

I bought a cheap foam filter to use in my as-yet-to be-established RCS "farm". (my bettas eat the small RCS; I'm trying to make a way for them to breed so I can have the larger ones in w/ the bettas.) How the heck do I set it up? The directions are in Chinese.
I hope this photo uploads.
Is that tiny thing by my finger the unput for a small an air hose? Can I attach it directly, or does it need a valve of some sort? What's up w/ that periscope thingy? Does something attach to that?

(The white stuff I'm using as a backdrop is actually a cat.)

"Why did you buy it if you couldn't figure it out?" You may ask. And well you may. This is what happens when you order something online that's a heckuva lot cheaper than at Petcosmart. No directions in English.

Lol nice backdrop XD

You need airline tubing and an air pump. Stick the airline tubing down in the parascope and attach the the other end of the tubing to the air pump.

EDIT: oh the little thing by your finger....huh...I am now stumped...sorry!

I'm not sure what the difference is between those square things w/a small hose output at one end and an electrical cord at the other (I have 2 of those) and a power head.
I have 5 HOB filters for various tanks; I'm only using 3 at the time. I don't want my shrimp sucked into these.
Like I said, I'm pretty pathetic!

I have an acrylic 5 gal hex that I want to use. This tank has a filter under the hood (custom with the tank). Can I make use of this?

Okay, okay. I think I got this; put the airline tubing over the little thingy by your finger. Then the bubbles should come out thru the parascope!

I think I have airline tubing. This is the power filter that was in my 5 gal. Can I use that somehow?
