It is; the filter components are in the top. It has a cover, too. I cant' figure out what direction a flow would go; does the periscope go underwater or out of the water? The filter flows water back into the tank, not just air.

Im pretty sure the parascope goes under water because that is where the bubbles come out.

I was mistaken. I'm pretty sure you stick the tubing on that little thingy next to your finger in the first picture.

I know that kind of sponge filter. Suction cup it on the tank wall, fairly close to the bottom like about 4 inches from the bottom. Stick the airline hosing on the tiny part that finnfinn mentioned, the part that was by your finger. Thread the airline hosing out of the tank and attach it to your airpump. If you can, use a check valve so water doesn't backflow into your airpump and ruin it if the power goes off. Plug in. Voila!

Cool!!!
So the periscope just shoots air out? Underwater?
I didn't know what backflow valves were for: backflow!
Thank you and say "Hi" to your happy cat for me!

Xalt, yes, the periscope just shoots out airbubbles underwater. It can be pretty or annoying depending on if you're trying to sleep, haha. :)

I'll never understand why sometimes answers to posts on the betta site show up on the Tropical site...
I imagine I could stick a plastic plant branch in the tube to diffuse it.

You could or you could use a gang valve. You hook it up to the gang valve, close the unused valve and then you can regulate the flow from a trickle to a full blown jacuzzi.

A gang valve:

Oh, haha, sorry, yeah, if someone posts from TFK then the posts and notifications show up that way but you can still view them from bettafish.
