Am I being paranoid?

This is Galileo. I think he is beautiful but I do acknowledge that his fins are a bit ragged. he is a veil tail but he has curly ends. I have hard water so thats why. Yesterday I read a post by OFL about long tail males and how their fins can become jagged and injured just from the water movement of the filter and from having to swim long distances. G is in a 5 gallon. He loves swimming back and forth as fast as he can. His filter was unbaffled until last night he liked the water movement. But now I wonder if his tail is getting jagged because of that? I sponge baffled his filter last night. At first he was not impressed. Today he seems back to normal and built a bubblenest. Does his tail look worse to you? the picture below is a picture of him a month ago and a picture of him now.

oh also:
5 gallon heated 83f eats omega one twice a day no tank mates ammonia and nitrites 0 nitrates 5. He is acting normally.

Thank you! I was planning to put some stress coat in when i change his water tonight. do you think thats a good idea? Galileo was my first fish baby. I am always terrified something bad will happen to him.

I've got a boy whose tail looks like that, and it doesn't seem to matter what I do, he just stays that way. Buckley is older, and sometimes I wonder if it's due to his age, and that his fins are just more delicate/frail? I have no idea, but it doesn't seem to bother him. :)

Your boy is beautiful! :)
