snail and african Frog and betta

ok my 1st question is this i have a betta and he has been swiming funny kinda like side ways i feed him a pea and i dont know if he ate it or his friend mr frogy should i put another one in his tank. i know you all are going to ask tank size heater and filter his tank is at 78-80 tank size is 1/2 because i am still waiting for the cycle to finsh in the 30g for all my bettas and no filter but i change the water 5o-75% every two days i give them peas 2 times a week.

OK and my 2nd ? is this i put a algae chips in the tank for my snail and he or she will not eat it. It just sits at the bottom of the tank and makes a mess. what do i do

Feed zucchini, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, or spinach. Add weights to keep it on the bottom.

The smallest heater you can find. preferably not over 10w would be sufficient.
