Tying a fake plant to a Sponge filter to help conceal it. Thoughts?

While they may be effective I find them pretty darn ugly. I was wondering what your thoughts are on attaching a plant to it with a rubber band (either to the pipe or the sponge)

It shouldn't cause any huge issues with the sponge, unless it gets sucked up against it and restricts the water flow. If it's silk, that should be less of an issue.

I would consider attaching it to a rock instead, and setting the rock a couple of inches in front of the filter.
