I love his face! He's so adorable.

I have yet to see my girl flare. :( Nothing makes her flare, ever. I haven't actually seen a girl flare in person before, and even when I try to get her to, her excitement to see me overrides her anger at whatever should be making her flare. xD

I was actually pretty excited about my girl. I got her from my LFS as a female VT, charging me only $2.99 when she's really a plakat and should be worth more than that. o3o And my boy is a VT/CT cross, which is pretty unique. Got him from the same LFS for the same price as my girl. I love that place. They recently got orange bettas in. Dx They have blue eyes and they're so pretty, but I can't afford to get anymore fish.

That's awesome! I almost grabbed the only doubletail baby at Petco (only 2 bucks!), but I felt bad for the one I ended up getting and switched them out last minute. Plus I really wanted a red one. Thanks! =] He cracks me up. Finally sees his reflection and he thinks he's the man. It's hilarious to watch him puff up.

My boy flares a lot. I think he's realized that the fish in his tank is him though, and not another betta that looks just like him. Now he just races himself up and down and around the tank rather than flaring at himself.

Lol that's hilarious! Floyd is kind of doing that, too. Funny thing is, he won't flare at the Pleco or at the baby on the other side of the divider. Just his own reflection! xD

Yes female bettas flare. They do it to show off for males, guard territory, and communicate with each other.
