Exclamation Getting a Betta Baby from Petco (Suggestinos please!)

Well to start I've had experience with Betta fish. I've had three. I know how to clean the bowl, and do it weekly, have a one gallon wide bowl. I've seen the baby bettas at Petco and after the death of my fish, Mr. Fish I'm ready to get another. I've seen the babies at Petco and decided to 'rescue' one. I know what to look for in a healthy fish(Nice coloration, no torn fins, activness). I've got the following supplies to care for him/her;
  • One Gallon bowl.
  • Water cleaner drops
  • Heater
  • Thermometer
  • Bettafix medicene (in case)
  • Bettaflakes (going to get pellets instead.)
I wanted to know what brand of food what would be good for baby bettas as I know they have special food. Also I want to know if there is any extra care supplies or any suggestions for you guys.

Thanks!

babies can take crushed pellets....
Feed them often (3-4 times a day) with one crushed pellet (also depends on brand), keep the stomach round. you can cut back on food once it matures.
tank should be 80-86F or up to 90 if you want. Make sure the thermometer is accurate.

Change out the wate often to promote fast growth.

I recommend NEw life spectrum. Get the bigger pellets for your bettas, and crush them for the small one

Ok I've checked out new life spectrum food. Do I ground it up or cut it into halves/ fourths?

Ok thanks ^^ I read that they are sinking pettets? is that better than floating ones? I would think the fish would get lazy?

I really need to get some for my little guy. I love watching him eat a floating piece and then dive and attack one that starts sinking. xD

Good luck with your future Betta! Be aware though, these little babies can be terrifying. Cae has me constantly on edge, worrying if he'll make it or not.

My next betta will likely be a baby. I think I'll be up for the challenge once I get Fitchy's fin rot on the mend...

Also, make sure to change the tank often. You need to do at least 3 partial water changes a week (maybe 1 full and 2 partial)

I have a 1.75 gal for my baby that I would do every day tank changes but now I do every other day to eveyr 3 days C:
