double tail or halfmoon?

Hey all! So I've had my betta since october but recently i've been questioning his tail type. In his cup at petco he was labeled a double tail but he looks like a halfmoon to me. Maybe he was mislabeled? Can someone help me put this question to rest?

Definitely not a double tail. Petco labels them wrong all the time that I've seen.

It could be just me, but I think I do see a slight part in his caudal in the second picture. He does not seem to have the spread to be a halfmoon.

Most betta's half HM mixed in with them nowadays, especially Double Tail's.
Normally there is a more noticeable part even with bad pictures, my most recent boy is a HMDT and his is quite noticeable around the edges of his fins, even if it's not in the middle.

Honestly, to me, he just looks like a HM. Very pretty though!

Has the body of a double tail. But not a double tailed betta. I would say delta with double tail genes

I wasn't aware that Double Tail's had a specific body type? I thought that most bettas have a basic body shape other than those which were poorly bred? And that's why we go off fin types? o_o

Yes tis true. But double tails have a special body type. Not all must most seem to have an elongated body or face more that other bettas. At least this is what I have found.
