fin/tail

what causes the fin and the tail to rot away? My betta has had this problem off and on. He'll have a nice full tail and then the next morning I wake up to find that half of it is gone. It'll grow back, and it's not like he's miserable, in fact he's quite active and colorful, I was just wondering what causes this. I change his water enough so it's fresh and clean, but not on a day to day basis.

Water quality can be attributed to 90%-95% of problems in betta aquaria.

Consider a 2.5 gallon with a small filter (sponge or small in-tank). The water stays cleaner, and you don't have to change out all of the water at once which is less stress for your fish. Plus more swimming room for him. Just remember to cycle to cycle it first :)
