Wow that's great! I may be needing your advice soon because I have just come from Petco with a baby Betta of my own. I don't want to hijack your thread so I'm going to post in the baby thread here shortly.

I just got a tiny baby female last weekend. I ws worried about her, as she did not seem to be able to eat the pellets I had. She remotely nibbled at flakes, but still wasn't really "eating". Someone on this forum suggested giving her fancy guppy food, which is the consistency of fine sand. In the meantime, I ordered some NLS small pellets. She loves the NLS AND the guppy food! Now she is healthier, and already grown a bit! I have high hopes for my little girl....she's exploring her 2.5 gallon tank all the time, and enjoying warm water, a small sponge filter, and partial water changes every other day. I am so glad I rescued her! But I need a name for her. I was thinking of Gabriella....meaning "gets strength from God".....

and did you buy all the females at the same time? If not, how did you get them used to each other? I'd love to have a sorority some day

Fishy Mom: yes Mercedes is with the other girls now.

Farm girl: I feed my baby the small pellets too at first but now she eats the big pellets. I did the small pellets for 5 weeks. Also i didn't buy my girls all at the same time. I bought Briseis first then Opal then Mercedes and then I got Jensen and Margenta on the same day. I didn't put the girls together until I got 4 of them and I put Mercedes in a breeders box because she was still pretty small. After a few days of watching how the other girls acted around her I let her in the tank with the rest of the girls and she did fine. My girls did chase and nipped at each other for a couple of days but nothing to bad. Now my girls are one happy family.
