It says that it heats to 78 degrees F, but in my 5 gallon, it only heated to 75, which is too low. It does stay consistent though, and mine has worked for years.

Yeah it's only getting my 1.5g to 76-77 :< Not the worst thing and yeah, seems to be consistent so that's good.

Did you try putting it by the filter where there's water flowing? If the filter sucks up the warm water, it's distribute it around the tank, and just maybe raise the temp a bit.

Mine is yeah :X It could be that it's a touch chilly (TX is so weird, it was 80 like two days ago and now it's in the 50's) so I'll probably try wrapping it tonight and see if it holds in heat better.

I use it in my five gallon. Keeps the water steady at 76. I read on tetras' website the heater will keep the water 6-8 degrees above room temperature. Room temp in my place is 68 so it sounds abuot right.

Great to know. I just set mine up in 80 water, so maybe it'll have an easier time heating it. The highest my house gets is 74, with the lowest at 69. So I have hopes.

The little light came on for a minute, and then shut off, but I'm not worrying because the water was already warm.

When I did a water change I added in warmer water so it seems to be having an easier time staying at 79-78ish than it did when I added chilly water and waited for it to heat up. I wrapped the tank in baby blankets on all sides but the front. My house is usually chilly, around 67-70 all day :\

Mine dropped down to 78-79 but seems to be staying there. It kept the tank warm last night which gives it points for being a good heater.

I have two, one worked fine. The other did not. I'm assuming it was a dud.
