Really useful tool for checking temperature when changing water

I bought this for another purpose but lately I have been using it as a back up check of accuracy of my tank thermometers and I've been using it to be sure the water I am putting into my tank matches the temperature that the fish is used to. It's very accurate it's waterproof but I just put on the side of the tank or container and push the button.

I know they have digital thermometer with probes on them but this is more multipurpose. I have had it for 3 years with the same batteries and it still works great.

This looks great... I'm struggling to find something similar in Canada for a comparable price, though. :S

That's really nice. And I'd LOVE to have one, because it's so cool......

But couldn't you just go to Petco/Petsmart/Walmart/Etc, and compare a couple of thermometers, and get one that agrees with all the others? A floating glass thermometer only costs about $3....

(Actually, I've gotten pretty good at determining water temp by feel. I can usually get a few degrees within 79F these days. (I am my own thermometer? ))

I have the regular thermometers in my tank but this is a quick and easy(takes seconds) to read (the numbers are large) it's in my hand and it's more precise. If I have the floating type I'd have to drop in from gallon to gallon in the change containers and wait. Even the stick on type are general and take time to register. It's definitely a nice quick conveniece not a necessity.

Well, I've already "justified" a handheld pH meter. Given some time, I might be able to find a way to "justify" this also.
