How long can fish go without food?

I'm going on vacation on Wednesday for 9 days, and don't really know what to do with my fish as my whole family is coming with me and most of my friends are going away this week too. I have one tank with 2 mickey mouse platys and 2 zebrafish, and a seperate tank with a betta. 9 days seems like a long time for them to go without of food, so I was wondering what you guys would do in my situation for both tanks.

There are some food dispensers for Betta that are timed to release pellets at whatever time of day you set. They sell them at chained pet stores. I don't know if they work well or not, so I suggest looking at the reviews before buying one and going off.

Do read the reviews as some people on the board have said auto feeders cloud the water. May you could set the a feeder to work twice while you are gone. I started a thread about vacations recently try doing a board search for vacation.

My female went 2 weeks without eating, her choice, when she was sick with Velvet shortly after I got her. If you could find someone to feed him at least once or twice while you're gone, that would be better.

If there is absolutely no one who could drop in and feed them just once or twice (make sure you measure pellets out for them so that they can't over-feed) then just leave them unfed the whole time. If you do that, try and get some live food for when you get back, as this will help beef them up a bit.

i'd be more worried about the water quality thank feeding. they can go without food for at least 2 weeks IME. But if water quality is bad, then, several days would be a problem. can you cup or use a critter keeper or a 1/2 g jar and have the sitter take care of the betta at his/her place with pre-mixed water to do at least 50% water change every other day?
