I wouldn't think you'd need to add prime unless you're having a serious issue with ammonia/nitrite. And it's far better to treat the cause than the result.
a new female in a 2 gallon. The person I bought it from said it was a 2.5g but its actually a 2g after measuring DX.
I put 4 drops of prime in a 100% water change. Do I need to put another 4 drops every 48 hours?
I think for a 2g you're supposed to do 2 50% and one 100% in a week. Are you testing your water with either a test kit or bringing a sample to the pet store? I don't think you need to constantly detoxify the ammonia and nitrites although it probably won't hurt anything.
You really only need to put conditioner in when you're doing water changes and only to the new water.
Three times a week seems a little overkill to me... but let your ammonia/nitrite levels determine that.
