How can you tell if he is a pk vs a veil since both have 2 rays. Is he defs a pk or is it possible he is just a slow growing veil. I don't want to breed him and them it turns out he's a veil and I end up with veil fry

He could be a immature vt. Who are you breeding him to? Breed him to a long fin female and you will get vt offspring. (Long fin is dominant, and two rays is dominant.)

I'm leaning more towards traditional PK, since he has 2 rays and..his ventrals are already quite long which to me looks like he's not so young anyway. If he's an "undeveloped" VT, I think then his ventrals should be shorter. But then again..I may be wrong :)

Well my only female right now is CJs so it would be her. Unless I breed her to another male then I will have more HM females. So if he is pk I would get some pk some hm and then a bit of some hmpk fry which I would have to breed out to make better in f2 correct?

Assuming he is PK (which I think he is) and you breed him to a long fin hm female, you will get 100% long fin (IE: No PK or hmpk), and they will have two rays. So veiltails or roundtail veiltails. I could definatly be wrong about that, but I guarantee they will be long fin. In f2 you could get a whole mix ofvthings.

Agree with matt :), I think considering he only has 2 rays, it's a bit "hard" to get HMPK, possible, but maybe need more than 3 or 4 generations.
