Sexing youngster

I have a feeling that this fish may be female. However, I am crap at sexing my bettas until they are full size so I thought I would get some other opinions. It would have to be around 2.5-3 months old at this point if that is of assistance. I will be sad if it turns out to be male though. I don't know how to get my spawns more balanced sex wise. All of mine seem to be very male skewed. Think maybe it is the temperature as it is quite high for these species.

Here are two photos of the unknown juvenile

This is a photo of mum for comparison

This is a photo of dad for comparison

I don't know much about wilds but at first I thought your title said "sexy youngster" and then I saw the pic of the handsome dad and I thought to myself "sexy indeed " lol Just thought I should share this with you XD

If the one in your avatar is a male, then I say the baby is a male, too. I always go by the ventrals.

oh wait! I see Mom and Dad have identical ventrals!

No the one in my avatar is the female/mum. Her ventrals just got cut off in the picture I used.

Haha the male is very sexy and he knows it. The picture is of him battle scarred after a particularly dangerous flirtation.

This is a better shot of mum

Also dad has his ventrals chomped right off. I think he only has one full one now and a half one. They are pretty vicious.

Now I see the baby takes after the Mom greatly. The male's dorsal is also different from the Mom's and baby's.

Yeah that was why I was leaning towards female. The juvenile also looks quite plump compared to my male fry who are usually more streamlined. Dad has a much higher dorsal and larger anal than the mum.

It has four other siblings in a separate grow-out and I think there is another in the tank with it and the parents but I haven't seen it in ages. Would love if they were all female. That way I can get a second generation out of them.
