Is this likely Betta Splendens?

I have a huge blue female(definately female)that I think may be a Betta anabatoides.

Here are 2 pics of her and one of my "normal"sized females.
The giant is blue, the normal is a cambodian.

Any info appreciated.

Wow! I just got one like that too...A student left her and a little scrawney male in my office last week....She is huge and is blue with horizontal grayish stripes down the whole length of her body....she is bigger than my 4 full grown males.. I was wondering the same thing ..what kind of Betta she is?

There's a guy in Thailand who started breeding "giant bettas" a few years back. I think they've made their way into the US market pretty successfully, so that's probably what you have. Here's a link to the breeder who started them, he's got a lot of photos of his, so it should give you an idea if this is it.

Thanks, I think she is a giant too. I have access to a few more females,but I am not sure I want to go that route.
