Strange hole in my betta's side. please help!

It started out as a white patch and I started treatment with bettafix, now it seem like whatever it is is eating through the poor guy. Can anyone help me? He is not in a filtered tank just a bowl which i change often and treat the tap water with conditioner. Please see attached photo :(

The pictures aren't showing up for me. :( Popcorndeer is right, Bettafix isn't a good idea.

maybe go to my page, it's a public photo should come up.. I don't have an image site i just take it from my computer desktop.. so I'm not tech savvy..
https://www.facebook.com/barriage.barb

He is in a fish bowl.. i guess about the size of a basketball, maybe a it smaller. it's open to the air. I haven't a clue as to temperature.. I keep them in a glass cabinet to protect them from my cats.. I've had plenty of them in the past with no problems. It's not heated, just a plastic plant and stones, he doesn't have any fishy mates in with him. I can't tell you the pareneters.. I change his water 100% every other week, and inbetween I add fresh water as it goes lower, or change it 50%. he gets a pinch (maybe 10) pellets of wardley betta essential every few days.

It started out as just a white patch much smaller than it is now, it seems like the scales were raised like a scab or something. this has been going on for a month at least.. and been treating him with the bettafix which apparently is bad :(.

We can't see pictures. Is the hole near the head?
Do you have cell phone you can upload pictures too? If you go under user CP and put the pictures your album and link them we can see them.
Hole in the Head Disease
•Symptoms: lesions (holes) will appear around the head area, Lethargy, Loss of appetite
•Treatment: HITH can be treated conservatively with Aquarium salt. Add 1 tsp/gal Aquarium Salt 3 times, 12 hours apart so that you end up with 3 times the normal concentration and remember not to continue this for more than 10 days. Keep the temperature between 80-82*F and perform daily 100% water changes. If conservative treatment fails then use API General Cure OR Jungle’s Parasite Clear fizz tablets.

You should go to the top of this section and read disease 1 and part 2 to see if anything sounds like what you are dealing with.
