What is the best filter for a ten gallon tank?

I want a lighter filter obviously. I want a filter that is virtually impossible for a betta to get stuck in it, because that's what happened with one of my filters. I want to upgrade my betta to a ten gallon tank and I was wondering what the best filter is?

I also have been wondering what would be ideal for a 10 gallon tank for
My little crown tail. I was thinking of going the sponge route, but some people have advised me to go other routes. Not sure what to do.

I recommend getting an aquaclear 20 which is rated for 5-20 gallon tanks. It has an adjustable flow on it so you can just set it to low to make it safe for the betta fish.

If you want to take extra precaution baffle the filter with a water bottle and put a sponge over the intake. Fluval makes a sponge called the Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge which fits perfectly over the intake.

Yeah they are expensive if you have to order online, which I did also...Mine was $26 including shipping....The aquaclear 20 is also a great filter but it's not gonna cost much less...

Yes they are terrific, every hob should have one on the intake. Its like having an extra filter and pulls lots of gunk out. Cheap, easy to clean and no betta getting sucked up. They are loaded with bb and can be used to quick start a cycle on a new tank.

If you do decide on a sponge filter, this would be a very good one for your 10 gallon tank http://www.kensfish.com/moreinfo/ati...-filter-1.html I have the same brand but the smaller size in my 5 gallon and I love it. No worrying about baffling...
