A few betta tips?

I've never really owned a betta b4, and I did a little reading on them but wanted to get everyone else's opinions first. I read that they should not be mixed with anything with flowing fins, or with shrimp or snails. I don't want to get a betta if it is going to attack my shrimp or my snails. Has anyone else had tis problem? Also I have 3 long finned danios, would they be a threat to a male betta?

I do believe a Betta would be a threat to your beautiful long fin danios.

hi
no long finned fish,i found my Betta was not interested in the shrimp or the snails.
i had him in his own tank with cherry shrimp and MT snails.

sometimes they will be mean towards shrimp and snails but all my friends who have this combination never have any problems, it depends on the personality of the fish. Try some other tropical fish, just none with long flowing fins like you said and none with the rep. of being a fin nipper, i recomend a platy or zebra danios, maybe a rtbs, that is all of what i have in my community tank and they all play around and get along great, dont introduce alot of new fish at the same time. Go to your lfs and ask them what fish they carry that are compatible with bettas.

neo please don't think me rude.....however
personally i would seek advise here before relying on any lfs.
most if not all are only interested in your money, and will
tell you that a Betta can be housed with anything.
there are plenty knowlage people here, who will give you good
honest advise on compatability.
just my honest opinion.

ok im just saying that the fish that people on the forum might recommend, his lfs might not offer, so in the end they are going to suggest something, they always have an effect on what u buy seems like
