Hi folks,

I'm a new to this forum, and just wanted to say hello. I have kept cold water goldfish for several years, but have always wanted to keep a Betta.

After my Black Moor passed away at the weekend I have decided to go ahead and get myself a Betta!

I went along to a local aquatics shop today, and purchased every thing I need for my set-up. I also had a close inspection of the Betta's they have in stock and will be going back next week to purchase my Betta.

My current set-up is;
- Fluval Chi 25l tank
- Marina 25 watt heater
- Betta thermometer
- Interpet Aquatic Air Pump - Airvolution Mini
- 1 x Marimo Moss Ball
- 1 x Fern Plant
- 1 x Driftwood

Apologies that the picture is rotated!

I am hoping to get a bi-coloured (white and blue) crown tail.

Any advice or feedback would be most welcome. Thank you.

welcome to the forum!

your set up looks, and sounds great!
Im not sure if that tank has a lid, but thats the only thing that Im not sure you have, and you defiantly need, they are jumpers!
cant wait to see pictures of your new friend!

also you might want to try buying a APi master test kit, its like 20-30$, if you dont already have one, it helps alot, because you can be sure of your water parameters (it tests for ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and ph).

once the tank has cycled and becomes more mature, you could try some shrimp (if you add more plants) or some snails, or just stay at one betta:)
goodluck!:)

Yeah, some Bettas are so aggressive they'll jump out of the tank but if you don't want to use anything as a lid, I would keep the water around 3 inches from the top until you get to know your betta :) but my friend has that same tank you'll love it.
