the only difference I can see is the top link has more surface area. so it will have more surface area for BB. go larger if you have the room in your tank

This is where I get mine at. Just find the size listed for the tank you are using. Free shipping makes them even better!

Waterdog, also, I heard through the grapevine that you managed to cycle your 2.5. How did it go? how long did it take?

Wow! That's a lot of sponge for that size tank!

LOL, my infamy preceeds me!

I admit, I cheated, as I always do. I take water from an already cycled tank to start any new tank. I just do a water change without vacuming the bottom. I put 3 parts cycled water to 1 part new water. I put in my fish and live plants.
My ammonia and nitrites were at zero in about two weeks.
You can see the tank in my photo album.

I have a new challenge in the works that mattsbettas and I are going over. If it works, it should make me even more famous, or notorious?

OK, I must have been looking at the wrong one, sorry.

It's just the next size up from the ones I use, but you should still be able to hide it with plants.

Your good!

OMG i SWEAR I just about had a heart attack lol. I am not an online shopper and this was an impulse buy so I wouldn't have to go driving all over the city to find a sponge filter as I don't have the time to make one. It was the smallest size they had. There was a round one that had a smaller sponge but the rest was the same size and this one which had a taller, thinner sponge. I figured that would be better...here are the links again. I bought the first one.
