Since you're not running a filter, I wouldn't worry about it. You should do at least 2 water changes per week of 50%+ each with 100% periodically. Did the water change make any difference in his behavior? Are you using a good water conditioner such as Prime?

I just have Tetra BettaSafe conditioner & I add aquarium salt. He's not acting any better, his fins are not clamped but his gills seem a little more open than usual.

The fish is much better today, was planning on doing water changes every day for a few days, should I still do those?
