If the lid fits firmly onto the rim of the tank, how is the betta going to get fresh air? or are there other species in the tank

I find that my plexiglass ends up warping a little, and will not sit completely flat after a while. The betta can get fresh air this way, or the plexiglass can be cut just a tad short on ONE side, and leave a little space for air to flow in.

I'm in the process of get a HOB filter, so there will be a cutout for that, and I will add a few ventilation holes when I cut the plexiglass to size.
