Internal parasite treatment advice

Does your tank have a filter? no
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? none (hospital tank)

What type of food do you feed your betta fish? aqueon betta food
How often do you feed your betta fish? 5 pellets a day

How often do you perform a water change? twice a week one 25% and one 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Currently on first dose of Tetra Parasite Guard

Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm
pH: not tested yet

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Nonstop bloated
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Clamped, slow, less responsive
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Slowly progressing from when I got her
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Tetra Parasite Guard tablets cut into fourths
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Not applicable
How old is your fish (approximately) Unknown probably was used as a breeder and sold when no longer "useful"

I am currently treating rose (female betta) for internal parasites and I had a few questions.

#1 Can I add epsom salt so that Parasite guard and epsom salt are in the water at the same time?

#2 If yes what dose of epsom salt should I use?

#3 Should I change the water changing schedule? more or less frequesnt?

#4 How long should I be treating?

I am really worried about question # 3 and 4, I remember seeing somewhere the life cycle of the Ick parasite and how it has multiple stages. Would this also apply in this situation?

#5 Should I be siphoning the bottom of the tank or are internal parasites also killed by meds in the egg and free swimming stage?

#6 Do I need to buy some broad spectrum antibiotic to prevent secondary infection are can I add aquarium salt, or some sort of black water extract/indian almond leaf?

#7 (Off topic) Would buying a more nutritionally beneficial food help the fish fight off infection or is it just to keep the fishes appetite up?

Thank you,
Paul O

A better quality food does really help! Try using either new life spectrum pellets or omega one pellets, those are the best for your betta... im sorry i cant help with anything else. Hopefully someone will reply soon that has more experience with the other areas
