If the whole tank is infected, why not treat in the whole tank and not in the QT tubs?

Yes, Triple Sulfa will work as well. I would not treat the cories unless they show symptoms, as I've heard cories can be sensitive to meds.

Go ahead and treat those who are in QT, like Honey. Mix up the meds in a container that holds 5 cups of dechlorinated water. Add 1/2 cup of the medicated water to 1 gallon of dechlorinated water and then fill the QT cups with that. Change the cups out daily, using the water in the 1gal container. Mix up a new batch of meds every other day.

First off, I'm so, so sorry Lebron! I know you are such a good fishkeeper, and columnaris is some nasty, nasty stuff. :(

In my first batch of bettas many years ago, I had something like this go through my tanks, and I used the Jungle med and it finally cured most of them. But, I would definitely run *everything* through a *no-soap* dishwasher cycle with an extra rinse, then let it all dry in the sun for several days. The dishwasher gets everything really, really hot (like boiling) and very little can survive temps that high. And what isn't killed by the hot, hot water is usually taken care of by dry UV heat. You can put silk plants, decorations, etc in the washer. DO NOT put thermometers in there though, they will not work afterwards. And as for your heater and your tank, I'd let them soak in Clorox for a day or two, then rinse, and then put them in the sun as well. Throw out any filter media/floss/biofloss/whatever, and just toss your gravel. It's easy to get new gravel, and not worth the hassle of trying to really get it clean. The same properties that make it great for BB almost make it (not-so) great for harmful bacteria as well. Best just to start new.

That was the only way I was able to get rid of it before. I believe it was living in my gravel. :(

This is probably overkill, but I'd rather be safe and not have to worry about it anymore.

Do you have a spare smaller tank everyone can live in while you clean the current tank? If not, you can get some Rubbermaid containers and use those as a temp measure.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'll definitely send prayers and good thoughts your way for the recovery of the rest of the fishies!

Honey died yesterday... :(

I already treated the whole tank. :\ 2 of the bettas have 2-3 white spots... Ich? I mean, how am I supposed to treat? Also, on the Sulfa, do I do the directions on the package?

I'm so sorry to cause you guys anymore trouble, you've already been a lot of help.

Sorry for your loss, I think guppies have a tendency to develop columnaris.

I still think it's the stress from the guppies that cause the columnaris. Did you QT the snail before introducing it to the tank? They can be carriers too.

First off, don't feel like you need to apologize to anyone, you are always so helpful, and this board is meant for emergencies like this! Don't ever feel bad about requesting help! And I'm so sorry about Honey. :(

It does sound like they have developed Ich, which makes sense with all the stress they've been under.

Are they QT'd now? At this point, I'd QT all the remaining girls, and go through a full treatment of whatever med you've started them on. It will probably get the Ich (most of these meds treat for just about everything in my experience and from reading the Maracyn guides). So, treat for the columnaris because it's the most deadly the fastest. Then, once they're clear from that, you can treat the Ich. You're triaging them, it's like they've come into the ER and they are bleeding out but they also have a concussion. You're going to stop the bleeding first, then you're going to treat the concussion.

Again, I'm so, so sorry for your little girls, I know how much you care about your fishies. Hang in there, and remember, you're doing everything you can, you've given them a fantastic life out of their pet-store cups (no matter how long you've had them, they had a better life with you than they did at the store), and no-one can possibly do any more than that. Crap happens, and it's hard and it hurts, but as long as you do everything you can for them, then no-one can possibly do any more.

Stay tough, prayers and good thoughts for your fishies!

I had the snails since I started the tank. Thanks for the support...

2 girls escaped QT, (Mew & Piper) I can't find Mew anywhere. Mew had mouth fungus and now I can't find her.. Piper has Ich, Winnie now has the mouth fungus and Ich. I already treated the whole tank with filter running.

It's over.
