Crown fish lonely?

I think my fish is lonely. He hides in his live plant all day and doesn't flare up like he used to when I first got him which was about two weeks ago. The temperature in the tank (2.5 gallon tank) is around 72 with a 25wt heater. Thinking about getting another fish to accompany him. Suggestions would be cool =]

maybe it's alittle cool in there for him ..optimum temp for Bettas is 78 -80 degrees..he would be more active then.

a 2.5 is a little small for many tank mates

yes the temp could be around 78 degrees, so set it to that
and the only thing you can stick in a 2.5 with a betta is perhaps a snail- but even thats pushing it (they make alot of waste) for tank mates you should go for a 10 gallon
