King Henry VIII

Hey everybody,

My younger sister just got a betta (that she knows very well that she needs to take care of properly or I'll be taking him), and I thought I'd share some pictures. He's in a Marineland Crescent 5 alone for the moment, but we're planning on adding a small colony of RCS once my colony starts reproducing, the tank is cycled, and the plants start to grow in.

Here's little King Henry in his cup in the store:

His tank (still in process - we'll be adding clippings from my tanks, until then there're a couple fake plants for cover). The heater isn't in there at the moment as we're waiting for it to come in the mail, but the tank's in the warmest room in the house and is holding a steady 75*F. And while it is in the window, it's on the side of the house that never receives direct sunlight - my phone just likes to focus on light and make it look way brighter than it is:

And here's some picspam of him in his new tank. He seems pretty entertained by the wineglasses and the glass marbles inside of them:

Oh I love the idea of the wine glasses and marbles!

Lovely fish :3 Tell your sister grats! She's lucky to have a fishy mentor like you.

lol Thanks, though I can't take any credit for the glasses and marbles on that one - it was my sister's idea We're hoping that the bulbs in them will grow, although I'm a bit doubtful because the stock lights don't seem all that great for growing plants... I'm thinking that if they don't, we may put some Java Moss or other low light plant in them and hope for the best.

And I don't know about the "lucky" part... I'm a bit of a tyrant on husbandry issues

Well I might just have to try your sister's idea for myself :3 I'm loving the idea of plants in there too!!

My lights are meh-worthy also x.x Only thing that seems to grow okay is the sword. Hopefully this bamboo starts going faster so I can finally put it in one of the tanks.

Post pics if you ever add glasses! Oo... Bamboo is a good idea! May have to see if we can get some in around the very tight-fitting hood somehow.
