Meet Bertha

Never got a chance to introduce her when I took pictures of Ellie the EE that I got both of them from a local breeder.

Used to call her Marjie (as in marbled jean color), but somehow she screams "Call me Bertha, and I will not respond to name that reminds me of tiny Marjie..". So Bertha she shall be...She's gentle at feeding time and likes to pose for pictures....

For size comparison (about 1/2" longer than Wee), it is Wee in the background:

She's pretty! I think Bertha suits her better. I like her fins.

I was told Bertha is a female halfmoon plakat (HMPK). she does have a larger flare on the tai if she wants to. I have a feeling it is a female plakat (PK) though.

Definitely not female CT as they look like this:

Ah, ok! I still have a hard time with the different tail types, especially on the females! Whatever she is, she's gorgeous!

@ Otterfun, I know ... and my little Suma (below):

would be a great start to this. I actually thought my little baby was going to be a girl, but since Suma has been with us, I've been rethinking my first instinct. For one thing, I can see that when they are side by side, Suma is way more "round" than the baby, who is super pointy, which I have read is a characteristic of females. For another, the baby was flaring the other day and I think I saw a tiny beard. So we'll see. Right now, my immediate plan is for the baby and Suma to go into a 10 gallon tank with a divider in the middle, but if the baby turns out to be a female, I might try to do a sorority. For that, I think I'd want a fifteen or twenty gallon tank, so then I could put two males, or two more babies, in the split ten gallon. Oh, the possibilities!
