If you buy craft store silk plants how long do soak or test for aquarium safety?

I have started soaking some in plain water I plan to add Prime and stress coat to be sure no chemicals disturb dyes. After soaking- I will slice the parts that have wire remove and remove it (this is sealed in) and I am going to reasoak again. I don't want to go to the effort to do that unless the dye stays. I use razor knife and it's tediuous. I am pleasantly surprised at how soft the leaves are once they are wet. Much softer than any aquarium plants I have bought.

Please let me know about your procedures for this.

I do just what you've done, making sure that my "chemicals" don't cause the dyes to leach for about a week, then just put them in. :)

If you have a Joanne's fabric near you, an *awesomely* soft silk plant with wires *only* in the lower stems is their "maiden hair fern". My guys *love* sleeping in it, and the leaves are small, so it really makes nice bushes/trees and things. :)

Here's a link:

Oh, and if you go there, make sure to print off a 40% off coupon. If your stuff isn't on sale, you can use the coupon and potentially save a lot of money. Just google Joanne coupon and you can pretty much find one at least once a week. :)
