My beloved betta's

Hi guys. I currently have no more beta's as of February of 2013 because my last betta Nikki died 2 month ago. I really want to get another betta soon, but my sister and mom said no more for a while. My tank isn't the same anymore and it's now a cory tank.

Top Betta's: Miyavi and Suki or Miss Suki
Bottom bettas: Nikki and Chichiri

They are cute. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully your Mom and sister will change there mind soon and you can get another cutie or two to play with the cories.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a cherished friend. Your bettas were lovely though. I especially like Chichiri.

I've heard 2-3 is pretty average. Although I have heard of people who have bettas live around 5-6 years old. I could be wrong though

Two to three years seems to be common for most petstore bettas; however, they have been known to live much longer than that. A member on here had a betta for seven years before he passed.

Although the 2-3 years is on top of the year or so of age most pet store bettas seem to be before they are sold. 8 years? Wow. I'm hoping I can get my Raphael to live at least 4 years under my care.

I think some of it depends upon genetics of the fish (like a lot of petstore bettas don't have the healthiest genetics, I.e a lot of inbreeding and such.) a lot of my friends used to keep bettas a d I've found there seems to be (at least for non experienced betta keepers) about a 50% chance the betta will live through the first week.
