Why do Betta's fight Gourami's?

They are not the same breed of fish? They don't even look like each other? Do they simply fight because they hang out in the same areas?

how big is ur tank?? and how many of the fish are in it?

is it heated? what are the water parims? Water quality can cause upsets in fish, so check out the water perims, and get a heater if u dont already have one, but im sure you do because you love your betta right?.........RIGHT???

Could be overcrouded, which is causing them to fight for territory.......i dunno and cant really help until you inform us of some more information about the tank

The answer is due to obvious similarities and territorial behavior. Males often establish their boundaries and stand ground in defending it hence their behavior.
