What color would you say this little girl is?

I like her because her form looks very nice, and I like her coloring. I know her DT isn't perfect, but I'm considering her nonetheless because even if she doesn't end up being a good breeder, I've sort of fallen in love with her...

Dude. Totally happened to me. I saw this one fish and idaf what genes she has.... She is on her way as we speak... I have learned that if I see THE betta, just to go for it to avoid emotional distress later (and yes, I am that sensitive about missing out on fish I have fallen in love with :p).

She is a cambodian - not clean red cambodian though. What are your plans, both color and form wise.
Her dorsal could be better, but she has a nice caudal and fairly balanced fins in general.

Her body seems short and stubby, a common occurrence in dt that can lead to spinal deformities of you are not careful. Her finnage seems fairly balanced but is not perfect. I really love her colors so I say if you can find the right male (a single tail male, not a doubletail), go for it!

Yeah, she is short backed already, I can tell. Is it crazy that I have only just started with bettas, but after being into horses for so many years I can tell a fairly balanced form when I see it?

Thanks for the replies. I have my eye on a lovely HM male - opaque white. But seriously, I have no idea how much sense that would make. 0_o

It all depends on your goals. Paired to an opaque white should give you lots of cambodian with various combinations.

Well, I went crazy on bid on her. :P If nothing else she will be a well loved girl! Right now I have two young males, a delta DT dragon and a veil tail dark blue. I love them both, but wouldn't breed either one to her. New to betta genetics - she obviously has somewhat of a DT, even though she is listed as HM. Is that expected if she has DT in her line?
