Bubble Confusion

I have a female Betta, and thin film of bubbles have started forming on the top of her tank. Now i know that Male Betta's form bubble nests, but I didn't know that females did too. IF they don't do you guys have any idea whats going on???

Thanks for the info!

I don't know much about Bettas, but if you have an airstone or hang-on power filter, then that's probably what it is. Can you post a pic of it?

male or female?

This is the Betta that I was told was female. I did a partial water change yesterday, her nitrates were a little high, but the PH was 6.8 and the Ammonia was nonexistent, or it didn't show up in the test.

The nitrate level was 2 ppm, but I talked to the owner of our neighborhood petstore (where I got Her) and he said that was to be expected.

So the question remains, is she a girl or boy?

Thanks for the help guys!

Christy

Wow, whatever she/he is, it's beautiful. I would guess it is a girl but who knows. Does she ever get stripes on her body. Females get horozontal stripes when stressed and sometimes vertical stripes when ready to mate. I dont think males get stripes. This could be a clue.

thanks. When I got her, she had a very bad case of Ich, and I didn't think she would make it, but she seems to be doing fine now.

I never noticed any bars, horizontal or vertical but then again she's very dark.

Now if it were my other betta, then I'd be able to see it lol.

See what I mean?

I just wish I knew whether or not my other Betta was a girl or not.

The other betta looks like a girl to me. Shorter fins compared to the other picture you posted.
