Pasodoble has poor aim

Do any of you have a betta with poor aim when it comes to eating his floating pellets?

I don't know if he has bad eyesight, or if his fins weigh him down, they are so heavy, but he misses the food half the time when he tries to pluck it from the surface of the water.

Is this not all that uncommon?

Here's a picture of him and his fins.

First off, he's a beautiful DT EE! I love blue and white. :)

And to answer your question, my guys have this issue. It's like they get so excited they can't stand it and they bump any "additional" pellets out of the way. I started just feeding one at a time, and that seems to help. Takes a bit longer...but usually worth it. :)

My guy misses about a third of the time... Some of them are probably just a little clumsy xD

My betta starts wiggling so dramatically when I'm due to feed him that the pellets get knocked out of the way... I try to "lure him over" to them with my finger and he sometimes misses... it's rather daft, really. Makes me feel special, though "HI HI PERSON HI HI HOWDY HELLO FOOD? HI HOWDY HELLO KONICHIWA HIYA HELLO FOOD?! PERSON!" I'm sure you know the drill...

Sir Reginald is TERRIBLE at getting his food sometimes! He gets sooooo focused on it, lunges... and misses. Sometimes it takes a couple tries for him to catch it...

So glad to hear your stories! Yes, the wiggles and jiggles! Are they meant for me or the food? lol

Pasodoble lunges and misses his food, knocks it away and then it's an act of congress as he struggles with all those fins to turn around and make another stab at it. It can be funny!

I also feed my Betta pellets one at a time, just drop it in front of him. I use a pair of sharp tweezers. A little fly got into his tank and he was watching it. When it got a inch and a half away, he jumped and snagged it!!!!

Wow! Nature at its best. I sometimes moisten the tip of my finger and stick one pellet on it and hold it over the water and watch my betta jump to grab it.
