i wasnt sure were to put this but since this talks about their habitat im going to put it here. this project needs animals, plants, pollution, etc. im planning on putting my betta fish in it. all of it needs to originate from the Thailand environment. or i can put it from other biomes. what would be the best for me and any other ideas?

I have few thoughts but what I want to be sure of is you're not doing this:

http://www.bettafish.com/showthread....light=Petition

You see our bettas are our beloved pets we don't think of them a science projects. If the project happens to involve your betta that isn't going to end up torturing it then you might get help. Otherwise I would say you are in the wrong place. This may be why you are not get replies. Most of us have read the posts by this young person that I have linked to. We would only want to help make a bettas life better not worse. So read the link then if this is not what you are doing then you'd what to post details about your project and how it's supposed to work. I can think of how you can get plants and other live things that might come from Thailand but it this project MUST make happy and healthy enviroment for the Betta.

Hmm. A biome according to google IS, in fact, a mini ecosystem. to the OP, please refuse this project. I refused all kinds of unethical projects in my high school and I passed with a 78% average :) Stand up for what you believe in, without harming others.

Your project could be a about a fishless cycle and the chemical testing needed. It involves live plants, waste disposal, microbes and bacteria. In the end your fish will have a very nice environment to live in that you both can enjoy. I know our members will be glad to help you learning about cycling. It's similar but no living animals are harmed in the process.

The other project involve burning a fish nearly to death with ammonia poisoning. If the fish survives it won't have comfortable life. Not something you do if you love your fish or if you are a compassionate person.

Please tell us more about the guidelines of this project.

Do NOT use your betta:
  • If the biome you are creating cannot contain 2.5 gallons of water or more.
  • If the biome is not heated.
  • If the biome's water is not changed in order to observe the levels of the ammonia, nitrates, etc.

This sounds quite similar to a project that is going on in my school right now that I am trying to end. I discourage you from using any animal, but if necessary- try to find small pond snails to use. I'm sure they have those in Thailand.
