seachem excel

anyone try this as more of an algae control helper?

i keep reading how great this stuff is not only to help you plants grow even better then they are but it helps control diff kinds of algae noticeably.

i have no experience using this.

id like to hear peoples personal experience with this and a description of their set up and possibly algae problem.

Many people have used it, both for spot and whole-tank treatments. The main ingredient, glutaraldehyde, is considered an algaecide/biocide so yes, it can be effective. But that's also the reason that some people prefer to stay away from it; it's pretty nasty stuff and can cause skin irritation and even produce allergic contact dermatitis.

it did help eradicate some of the hair algae in my tank when it only had inverts in it. but i had to use air stone for my inverts.

it melted my anacharis.
