Help me decide...

Which looks simpler; a pure black gravel, or a natural colored gravel? And could the coloring on the black gravel be dangerous?

This is a bit more of a personal choice. For me, I love black gravel because it helps bring out the colors in your bettas, fish, snails, shrimp, etc. It also doesn't show all the stuff that can grow on it like tans/whites do. But if you keep up on your cleanings and vacuuming then I would say go for the natural. But it all comes down to personal preference as I would said Black looks simpler.

And I'm not sure what you mean by "dangerous"? I've always used black gravel for my setups for over two years now and nothing's ever happened to my fish or inhabitants, if that's what you're asking :)

I have natural gravel, black gravel, and fake natural gravel. I will post pics but I can only post one at a time. I like all of them.

Thats a tough one! OI love black gravel because it looks so stylish and modern. That being said, natural gravel is beautiful because its natural AND matches everything! If you are looking for low key modest look I think Natural would be the way to go. But if you are going for ultra-modern minimalist look than black is the way to go.

Hmm...I don't know what I want! I like low key modest AND minimalist looks!

What I meant by dangerous is possibly the dye of coloring they use on the colored gravels. Does it tend to leach off over time? Is it any more of a risk to use than the natural gravel?

And the fake natural gravel- I love this stuff. Might be what you want if you are going for the "modern, modest, and minimalist" look.

And yes, I have had black gravel for a while with no problems.

Thanks for showing me your gravels :).

I am leaning towards the black....But you are sure the color doesn't leach or anything like that?
