My betta attack?

Ahm, heres the story..

When I go to my room to check my aquarium, I saw one of my fish loss his eye, I was shocked and I feel pity for her. She is a small molly, she is 1.5 inches small..
The question is, does my female betta do it, but my betta is still young, and I cant see any aggressiveness to her, btw she is 2 inches and smaller I think..

P.S
I have 8 gallon community tank with 4 adult mollies, 5 frys, and one female betta..

possibly, but i would take out the mollies. rule of thumb: 1 inch of fish per gallon.

Do I really need to separate them?, because I'm planning to upgrade my tank, do you think that would help?..

an upgrade would definitely help. I think that many fish in an 8 gallon tank is way too much. They will fight less if they have more room.
