Fish out of water

I was cleaning my betta's tank, and he was in a yogurt container. I forgot to place somthing ontop of the container, and he leaped right out and started flopping on the counter. I freaked out, and scooped him up with my hands, and set him back in the container, this time placing something (breathable) ontop.

After he was back in, I noticed some "color" on the counter... It was kind of blue-reddish, and sort of clear... Was that some of his coating on his scales? Will he be alright? He was in my bare hands, but my hands were wet (I was changing his water)

Keep an eye on him for a few days but I think he'll be ok. If you have some stress coat I would add it since it contains aloe and will help if him scales were damamged without adding chemicals or meds to the water.

He could get some serious [fungal, bacterial] infections.

I think Holly is right a little stress coat ..keep an eye on him and maybe if you see a wound try just a drop of Bettafix...it is mild but should protect against an infection ...(not a serious one of course). Be very carfeful not to overuse medications....He should be Ok...I have seen this happen before.

ive had this happen to me. my fish jump out and he seemed to hop towards the sink. so i grabbed him with my hand and put him in the tank.
he turned out just fine until he died (which was like a year after though)
just keep up with the (25% every couple of days) water changes and some stress coat wont hurt either.

He seems quite fine, though a little "duller" in color.

A lot of fish can change color to more drab colors when they're stressed out. My kribensis do this when I'm doing some major remodeling on their tank. Your betta will probably color up after a little while.
