Breeding sizes

I was at the store today's came across a beautiful (grizzle?) male that would go great with a female I have. The thing is he is a big boy and she is a smaller female.

My question is does it matter the size of the fish? Should one be bigger than the other or the same size?

They should either be the same size, or the female can be smaller. Not the other way around, or the male may fail to wrap and fertilize the eggs. However, if the female is much smaller then the male, the chances of her getting really beat up increase.
