Exclamation Is this tail biting or something worse??

Last weekend after a water change my fish got thru the divider. The next morning they were on opposite sides. Both seemed completely unharmed. Everything has been fine since, in fact I haven't seen either flare at each other since. When resting they would lay on the bottom next to the divider right against each other. They both seemed completely healthy. Bayard has seemed a little lethargic today and kinda just hanging around on plants and the gravel. I fed them in the morning and within two hours I found Bayard to have eaten his tail(I'm assuming). Now he is incredibly lethargic and I went out to buy stress coat + and when I got back he seems to have glazed over eyes. I'm panicking, please offer any advice! Thank you

its fin rot then make sure he is in a QT tank so he wont infect your other betta. You can treat him with aquarium salt (1 tsp/gallon) make sure its fully dissolved before slowly adding it to the tank, any undissolved chunks can burn your fish. treat for no longer than 10 days (or it becomes harmful to you fish) keep the water temp at 78F anything higher will help the bacteria grow. 100% water changes daily to keep it clean and stop bacteria from spreading.

Fin rot looks like the fin is deteriorating. Tail biting looks like roughly u-shaped chunks taken out of the fins. Sometimes when it is fresh it will have a bit of blood on the edges.

He's only gotten worse over night. I haven't seen him bite his tail, and the edges are more red then yesterday, so is this definitely fin rot then? He's swimming alright, and he's eating his pellets. I am worried about his eyes tho.

Between his fins getting worse and his eyes getting bigger I am going to treat him with aquarium salt tonight. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.

I cant really tell by the pictures but is his eye just bigger or is it white as well
AQ salt for now is your best bet it will help keep anything mostly at bay until we fully understand whats wrong, remember clean water is very important when helping our sick little friends

I can't really explain his eyes, it's like they're glazed over and kinda white. He's eating fine tho and does swim ok when he wants to. I've been keeping him in a small heated tank treated with stress coat +

this is pop eye, its a bacterial infection that can affect one or both eyes.
Start with the conservative method, clean warm water is very important.
I start with Epsom salt 1tsp/gal for 2 days and increase to Epsom salt 2tsp/gal along with 100% daily water changes for 10-14 days.
