New Elephant Ear Rescue

I actually looked at this fish a month and half ago but the $19.99 price tag was more than I wanted to pay. I do believe pricing these fish so high is like a death penalty. Amazingly I had to eat my Petco words and I found a girl who was caring and let me have him for $5.00. This Petco is a better one in my area and I've gotten 3 fish there previously. She asked me to bring pictures back if I get him well. I thought he was blind in one eye it was white and cloudy, he looked awful and was breathing heavily.

This morning I thought he was dead he was dark gray and limp on some leaves. I poked him and he roused but was not doing well at all. He just sunk to the bottom. I was afraid he'd be dead by the time I got home from work. I took a chance and used Jungle Fungus on him about a baby aspirin size amount it says it can be used for SBD and cloudy eye. I returned home to a fish doing much better.

He is swimming better the eye is a dark cloudy gray and not white but it sometimes has a red sunken appearance. I am really hopeful for him now. It's a relief I was afraid to look when I came home.

He is very fluffly and ruffly. His colors are actually a light silvery blue, he has a reddish chocolate head and his fins are a cream color with peach high lights. He is swimming well today. I am pretty concerned about his eye. It's very sunken and I can see the pink of the socket the eye still moves but is clouded over.

Poor guy, glad you took him in.

My old betta who recently passed had an eye issue similar to this one.. but I don't think it was an infection (whereas this probably is).. his eye eventually fell off, and he was fine. I did have to hand feed him though...

I hope this boy has a full recovery, he's very pretty.
