Okay sweet thanks I'll be sure to keep a close eye and any improvement or if condition worsens. I would have thought he was fine and just loosing color from being stressed (he doesn't seem to happy about water changes) but then I caught him trying to rub and scratch on a plant so that threw me off.

Mine hasn't rubbed but I don't see any signs of velvet or ich in your picture. Just watch for any spots or like goldish dust on him. Epsom salt will treat an internal or external parasite for the most part, but watch him for any personality changes of physical. Give him a few days and track his progress. Keep me updated please :)

Edit: you can cup him from his tank this is less stressful for them then a net, you can reward him with a food pellet this will train him to like this method and he will just swim into the cup on his own

Epsom salt is for internal problems, Aquarium salt is for external problems.
