My high school had early Saturday morning detention that started at i think 7:00, which was about 15 minutes earlier than actual school started, which was unfortuneate because the reason i had detention a few times was that i was always late haha! However somehow I managed to get to the early morning Saturday detentions on time, and surprisingly, it wasn't terrible! You could do homework, read books or even magazines, or you could just sit there, so long as you didnt sleep and you didnt have your head down. It was much quieter than a normal classroom, so I found it less distracting when i was doing homework. Infact, I usually got quite a bit of homework done, which was surprising, because usually in class I'd be very distracted. Normally on weekends I'd procrastinate till Sunday night with my homework, because I hated it and often couldn't understand it, so I'd just avoid it all together. However the few times I had detention, I found those few hours of structured quiet time on the weekend to actually help me get more done, meaning I'd stress less about it later, unlike most weekends when id inevitably left it til the last minute. So for me, although you'd have to get up earlier than you'd have to during the week, and go to school on a Staurday, it was over in 1 or 2 hours, and I'd gotten more done in that time than I usually did at home or at school in class or study hall. So I kind of liked it!
